Real Kids, Real Needs!
Real kids living at Christian City depend on the benevolence of others to help take care of their real needs, including their most basic needs as well as education, medical and dental care, and emotional security.

For more than 40 years, over 1000 children have come to Christian City seeking a safe and secure place. We provide a stable Christian home environment where children learn structure and family responsibilities. We give the children an opportunity to excel in school and to grow in their understanding of God as well as themselves.

Children in search of a home
Children come to Christian City for many reasons. They often come from homes where they have suffered abuse and neglect, homes with financial or emotional burdens, and even from homes where they are simply not wanted. Some children live with us just long enough to give their families time to adjust to a changing situation while others will spend all of their childhood with us.

All of these children need to eat regular meals, have adequate clothing, sleep in a warm bed, and sense the feeling of belonging. Some come to us with significant individual needs such as illiteracy, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities. They are often exhausted by overwhelming emotional struggles; they need the direction of trustworthy adults like our houseparents to guide them and to provide for their needs and to establish and enforce appropriate, healthy boundaries.

No Place Like home!
There is no place like home. There is no bed like your bed, and no family like yours. At Christian City we provide a healthy home to children who don't have a home or the benefits of a positive, supportive family. Some children come to us from homes that are unsanitary and unsafe. Some children never know what a positive home environment is like until they come to Christian City.

All children want a mother and father in their lives, but unfortunately not all children are so blessed. At Christian City, we provide full-time houseparents that become a Christian “Mom” and “Dad” to the children. They love them, provide direction and guidance for them and teach them – just like a Mom and Dad should do.

Christian City provides children with a loving family. Our houseparents do all the same parental duties that occur in every typical home, such as sending kids off to school, making them brush their teeth, do homework, and brag on them when they do a good job! Your sponsorship helps provide all these normalizing components of home and family for children who need this wonderful experience.

Zack
Zack’s mother brought him to live at Christian City at an early age. The house-dad at Christian City was the only father that Zack ever knew. Zack really wanted to know about his real dad and sometimes was rebellious toward his houseparent. Through the relationship Zack developed with his house-dad, he learned how a dad loves, disciplines, and protects his children. Having this relationship with his house-dad helped Zack build a firm foundation for his life and showed him how much his Heavenly Father loved him.

Zack graduated from High School and went on to Bible College. Some time later he came back to visit the houseparent’s and told them how much he appreciated the way they treated him as their family. He realized that they had helped him build a foundation of faith.

Thanks to those who helped Zack, he joined the military and learned even more discipline. Zack is now serving our country in Iraq. He is fighting for the freedom for other boys and girls to build a firm foundation of faith.

Kylie
Kylie was adopted, but then her adopted family brought her to Christian City. Kylie came to Christian City when she was a little girl. She felt something was wrong with her because no one wanted her. Kylie knew that Christian City was a safe place for her. Then she came to know what love and safety was all about when she gave her heart and life to Jesus. Kylie was so excited to learn that Jesus loved her so much that He died for her. She felt safe to know that Jesus would never leave her like her adopted parents did.

Kylie came to learn that she was "worth something. She became a beautiful young lady - not only on the outside but from the inside also. Kylie eventually fell in love and got married. Her houseparents at Christian City went to the wedding and sat in the place that her parents would have sat. Later in her life, Kylie’s husband died suddenly, so she called her houseparents at Christian City who had become her “Mom and Dad” to comfort her in her time of grief.

Kylie knew what a safe home was because of Christian City and her belief in God. It is because of Christian City that her life was a success and today she is a strong Christian lady.
