Soon, the Christian City Home for Children, Inc. will offer training and professional development courses for those seeking to gain more in-depth knowledge and information assistance in the areas of child welfare, parenting skills, and professional development. 

These courses will be offered at The Children’s Village at Christian City and in arranged locations (i.e. - agencies, churches and civic groups).  There is a small fee for these courses and some carry certificates of completion and SDU’s.  Our trainers/ staff have extensive experience in course topics and hold licensure as a NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). Our trainers/staff have more than 60 years of combined experience in these areas of expertise.

The following is a sampling of planned courses, however, this is not an all-inclusive listing and training can be tailored to meet individual needs:

• Child Development
• Child abuse (physical and sexual)/neglect
• Mandated reporter training
• Parenting skills
• Conflict resolution
• Mental health/developmental disabilities
• Reactive attachment disorder
• First aid
• Defensive driving

*We also serve as a site location for post secondary internships in the areas of education, psychology, sociology, and social work for both the baccalaureate and master's degree programs.
