Wednesday, September 1, 2010 Three years ago, Neil went to India and saw a number of children living in an orphanage, and ever since has been thinking of how to help children in need. When the time came for Neil to choose his Eagle Scout project, it seemed like a perfect fit to help The Children's Village because it was nearby his Peachtree City home. Neil raised the funds and built four picnic tables with the help of his friends and fellow scouts. The kids and house parents will now be able to have a place they can sit to enjoy eating and visiting outdoors. Bob Crutchfield, President and CEO of Christian City expressed, "We are grateful for the hard work and dedication Neil put forth for his Eagle Scout project. What a great example he is to other young people! When you see kids helping kids it is very moving. Neil is an impressive young man and we are priviledged to know him and call him a friend." The Children's Village, located in Union City, cares for abandoned and abused children in a family-centered environment. The children live in cottages with full time house parents. Christian City has been caring for abandoned and abused children since 1965. Over 1,000 children have called Christian City "home." Friday, August 6, 2010 The volunteer committee is very excited for the upcoming event as there will be delicious food, festive music, and great networking opportunities. Last year's event was a huge success. With the help of 50 sponsors, volunteers, and local artists, over $36,000 was raised for the abandoned and abused children who live in the cottages at Christian City. By the time Josh was thirteen, he was cancer-free and learning to manage life as an amputee. When he was sixteen, he took up downhill ski racing and body building. Josh's accomplishments are not just on the slopes and in the gym. He served as a National Spokesperson for the Combined Federal Campaign, raising over $300 million dollars a year for charities. Josh just released his memoir, Just Don't Fall, this past January. He has also been published in The Washington Post, Daily Guideposts, and Current, Newsweek's college magazine. Tickets for the event are $125. Please call 770-703-2636 to learn more about the event or how to be a sponsor.
