In February, 1962,
Christian City received its corporate charter and took the first steps in a
forty year journey. That journey was not a wandering trek through the wilderness
looking for the "promised land". It was a straight and ever-broadening path
toward fulfilling the original vision of a safe and nurturing community for
homeless, abused and neglected children as well as active seniors, the aged and
infirm. Christian City has grown from one small cottage of homeless children on 50 acres of donated land to a huge campus ministry providing a vast array of residential, health and social services. What was prayerfully envisioned four decades ago is now a reality. |
By exploring this website, you can see a long list of programs, services and facilities available at Christian City. You can see a map of our 500+ acre campus and the 96 buildings located therein. You can learn about our water aerobics building, our senior health club, and our carillon that rings out a reminder of our purpose and mission. You can learn that we have our own branch of Bank of America, that we serve more than 650,000 meals a year, and have many opportunities for volunteer service.
This website can show you many things. But, what you won't see so clearly is the heart and soul of "The City"...the scores of children desperately in need of a loving home, or active older people involved in volunteer work and an array of social activities. You won't see hundreds of seniors on limited incomes enjoying a care free life in one of our beautiful apartments or active seniors walking the streets of one of our independent living patio home neighborhoods. You won't see the joy and peace on the faces of families resting at night knowing that their loved ones are receiving the care and attention they need in our nursing home, assisted living and personal care facilities, or Friendship Place, our specially designed program for victims of Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia. You must be present to see all of these things on our campus.
This website can show you a lot, but there is nothing better than a first hand look. Why not take an hour or two and visit Christian City. We would like nothing better than to take you on a personal tour. We are close to the Atlanta Airport, and just 20 minutes from the center of downtown Atlanta. I know you will be both pleased and pleasantly surprised by what you will discover.
Thank you for your interest. We hope to see you soon!
